2008 Election: A Few Rays of Hope In Clouds of Darkness

To all of the Republicans and conservatives out there that were and still are dissapointed by the 2008 election, here are some great reasons to look forward to 2010 and 2012:

1. With an unpopular war, unpopular president, an economic downturn, and the failure of a major Republican candidate to capture the inspiration of 'red' America, John McCain still got 46% of the popular vote!

2. In the December 2nd Senate runoff election in Georgia between Saxby Chambliss (R) and Jim Martin (D), Chambliss won handily 57%-43%.

3. History shows that after controlling the house, the senate, and the presidency, the party in power usually loses seats in the next midterm elections.

4. It looks like young Republican Governor Bobby Jindal (a rising star) from Louisiana may have the left the door open for his possible 2012 run for the presidency. The same goes for previous Republican primary candidate Mike Huckabee, who in November came out with his new book "Do the Right Thing", which many feel may have laid out his platform for another run in 2012.

5. Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (D) is at least putting some kind of taint on Illinois politics and it may (whether rightly so or not) put a little doubt in at least some people's mind about the Democratic Party and its legitimacy and corruption.

6. The American People are getting tired of bailing out every industry that needs help. This is starting to look like it may hurt the popularity of the Democratic Party.

Let's see what happens in the up coming months with Obama's administration. I would love to see him do well and America prosper, but I'd still like to see a Republican in office come January 2013.

quick note: I am currently reading Huckabee's new book and am very impressed with his ideas, sense of humor, and outlook on life. A must read for any family values voter, social conservative, or anyone who closely followed the primaries.

God Bless America
